I was stationed at Cam Ranh Bay in 1971 and served with the 22nd Replacement Battalion (Army) right up the road from the airbase. We used to take a few days «off» by hitching a ride with an Air Force Rescue Squadron stationed in Cam Ranh over to Udorn, Thailand were they rest of their unit was located. They used C-130's to refuel rescue helicopters. For the first time since that date, we will be going back to Vietnam in October. Will visit this area.
