Hey Hokie, I was with the 22nd also in 71. I got there the day they set up the drug control center and we took the outgoing plane tickets and took the drugggies to the 6th CC up the road. Dave

This has brought back so many memories. Thanks for sharing it. I worked for Special Services in Cam Ranh as a DAC(Dept. Army Civilian) librarian. Ran the libraries at Cam Ranh post, and 6th CC 69-70. Went past Tiger Lake every day on my way to work.

What a great three part series. Most of the facilities still appear intact when viewed on Google map, although disturbingly abondoned.

I was stationed at Cam Ranh Bay in 1971 and served with the 22nd Replacement Battalion (Army) right up the road from the airbase. We used to take a few days «off» by hitching a ride with an Air Force Rescue Squadron stationed in Cam Ranh over to Udorn, Thailand were they rest of their unit was located. They used C-130's to refuel rescue helicopters. For the first time since that date, we will be going back to Vietnam in October. Will visit this area.

Great video, I flew into and out of Cam Ranh Bay. Didn't like coming in going out was fantastic. LOL

Back in '66, it had a distinctive odor.
